Speakers announced!

Last night at Glug Birmingham we announced another stellar line-up of designers, artists, makers, animators, lecturers and influencers and it’s here for your viewing pleasure.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be adding to this line-up with the final few speakers being confirmed, workshops and a couple of additions to the programme that will make BDF 2019 even more action-packed than last year.

Once again the festival will be priced in a way that all can enjoy, no matter your background. As in 2018, all talks in the District Hubs will be free to attend and there are some amazing speakers lined up.

In addition to this, our themed evening events showcase talent from around the world at a low price of £15/£25 (student/adult). Here’s some more info on what to expect.

Thursday Night – Designing a community

The speakers in our first evening event are all building exceptional communities aimed at creative audiences. Chris Do (The Futur), Wes O’Haire (Blacks Who Design) and Milan Moffat (SuperHi) will talk you through what it takes to build a following of like-minded people and evolve it into regular social interactions.

There’ll be Glug Birmingham vibes as Mama Roux’s plays host to proceedings, with Digbeth Dining Club next door delivering the very best street food the city has to offer.

Friday night – Visualising a story

On Friday night head over to The Giant Screen at Millenium Point and get lost in alternate universes and lovingly crafted animation. Erica Dorn (Isle of Dogs), Mike McGee (Framestore) and Gavin Strange(Aardman) will be talking design for film & TV and how they help deliver authenticity to the worlds they create.

Saturday Night – Building the bigger picture

Our final event sees four designers working for some of the biggest brands in the world delve deeply into our festival theme ‘Truth’. Expect refreshingly honest talks from Laura Pol (TBWA\Media Arts Lab, Apple), Jennifer Daniel (Google), Andre Jay Meissner (Adobe XD) and Richard Small (Sony).
